Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or Communications or other commensurate experience.
Summary:
The Vice President (VP) of Business Development for Private Construction Projects will be responsible for driving the growth of the company's private sector portfolio. This role requires a strategic leader with expertise in identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in the private construction market. The VP will play a key role in expanding the company’s market share, building strong client relationships, and leading the business development team to achieve long-term success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
Develop and execute the company’s business development strategy for private construction projects, aligning with the overall corporate objectives.
Lead, manage, and mentor the business development team to meet company growth targets.
Identify new market opportunities and trends within the private construction sector, ensuring the company remains competitive.
Client Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with private clients, developers, architects, general contractors, and other stakeholders in the private construction industry.
Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients, addressing their needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Negotiate and close high-value contracts and agreements to secure new business.
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients and project opportunities.
Analyze market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging trends to position the company strategically.
Use data-driven insights to guide business development efforts and refine sales tactics.
Proposal & Bid Development:
Oversee the preparation and submission of proposals, presentations, and bids for private construction projects.
Work closely with project managers, estimators, and other internal stakeholders to ensure proposals align with company capabilities and client needs.
Ensure all proposals are competitively priced and compliant with project specifications and requirements.
Brand & Reputation Management:
Promote the company’s brand and reputation in the private construction industry through networking, industry events, and public relations efforts.
Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and client meetings.
Maintain a strong professional network to enhance the company’s visibility and presence in the market.
Revenue & Profitability Growth:
Develop and monitor sales pipelines, forecasts, and performance metrics to meet revenue targets.
Ensure the company’s private construction projects are profitable, and manage financial aspects of contracts to optimize profitability.
Collaboration with Senior Leadership:
Work closely with the CEO, CFO, and other senior leaders to align business development initiatives with the company’s financial and operational goals.
Provide regular updates on business development progress and market trends to senior leadership.
Develop production and sales goals
Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients and project opportunities.
Analyze market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging trends to position the company strategically.
Use data-driven insights to guide business development efforts and refine sales tactics.
Research, develop, and execute the company’s business development strategy.
Research prospective clients and pursue leads for future private sector construction projects
Cultivate and maintain relationships with private clients, developers, architects, general contractors, and other stakeholders in the private construction industry.
Update and track current client touches within CRM database
Meet with new clients to understand program needs
Support the Marketing Team to assist in preparing new project proposals to ensure that requirements are met
Create and present customized interview presentations
Continuously promote Pogue’s culture and company core values
Oversee new initiatives
Oversee and attend tradeshows & events
Consult with Executive Leadership Team on monetary health of the organization and next steps for generating business
Facilitate the Go/No-Go process for project pursuit approvals.
